In this painting, on this journal’s cover, you notice a woman with her arms around herself in a gentle embrace. She is wearing her hair naturally, with a bright, bold red lip, and a red dress to match. This painting depicts a woman learning how to accept herself for all that she is, find confidence in who she is, and to give herself the love and grace she has often given to others.
Langré painted this during a time when she was single and focused on personal development. She was healed from her past and learning how to wait well for God’s timing, to present her a spouse, and for other desires within her heart. After going through cycles of discontentment, frustration, sadness, and impatience, she finally surrendered to the promise in Jeremiah 29:11:“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
It was in that place of surrender and trust where she was able to be present in her then season, find contentment with all that she had, and embrace herself, wholly, as an individual; her personality, her strengths, her weaknesses, and all that she is in Christ.
This artwork represents women everywhere, learning how to love themselves and to live confidently and boldly from that place. It is a piece of art that reminds the mother, the nurse, the lawyer, the future first lady, the entrepreneur, the caretaker, and the young woman with big ambitions to remember that they cannot pour from an empty cup. However, if you seek God’s love to fill you, refill you, and refresh you, your cup will always run over.
As you write in these pages of this journal, your heart, dreams, prayers, and deepest desires, may you always remember that you are worthy of love, perfectly loved, and deserving of a love so deep the ocean would be jealous!
